No:52 in The Stations of the Tokaido published by Sanoki (late 1830`s). Also known as the Kyoka Tokaido because each print carries a comic poem (Kyoka). At nightfall in an inn at Ishibe, two guests enjoy a bath while a third employs the services of a blind masseuse. A geisha with her hair done elaborately speaks to a maid who has come to serve tea. A plum tree blooms in the garden and the sliding doors are open to the air of early spring. Colours and impression in good condition, trimmed.
