Utagawa Kunikazu (c.1830-1910) was a pupil of Kunisada and specialised in Kabuki theatre scenes but also designed many landscape scenes. This woodblock is an unknown scene presumably from the Osaka kabuki theatre. A very fine impression, excellent colours with gauffrage on the woman`s collar and mica on the gold of both kimono`s, some small worm holes repaired, the sheets gummed together and backed.
